O pavilhão auricular desempenha um papel único na estética facial. Quando a sua forma está preservada passa facilmente despercebida; contudo, as mais pequenas deformações ou subtis irregularidades tornam-se muito evidentes e desproporcionadas. Quando se avaliam lesões cutâneas do pavilhão auricular, têm de ser consideradas as particularidades anatómicas desta estrutura que irão ditar a opção cirúrgica apropriada. O conhecimento elementar da anatomia do pavilhão auricular é um requisito fundamental para a reconstrução dos defeitos do pavilhão auricular.
Neste trabalho fazemos uma revisão da anatomia e unidades anatómicas do pavilhão auricular, bem como da patologia cirúrgica e opções de tratamento mais comuns. O objectivo principal é divulgar a terminologia aplicada a esta estrutura para homogeneizar as designações clínicas, topográficas e patológicas utilizadas pelas diversas especialidades que trabalham nesta área.
The external ear plays a unique role in facial aesthetics. A normal auricle often goes unnoticed; yet even a small deformity or subtile irregularity can stand out and become evidente. When evaluating skin lesions on the ear, specific anatomical peculiarities should be considered so that the appropriate reconstructive option can be taken. A fundamental knowledge of anatomy of the ear is a requisite in the performance of auricular surgery. In this paper we review the anatomy and anatomical subunits of the auricle. Our main goal is to try to standardize the clinical, topographical, and pathological terminology used by the diferente specialities that work in this field.
